Recognition of academic achievements abroad

At the chair of Business Administration IV, we are happy to recognize - under certain conditions - academic achievements achieved abroad in the field of General Business Administration and/or in the field of Special Business Administration. The requirement for recognition is proof of a passed exam lasting at least 1 hour. The structure of the recognized course must overlap (at least 50%) with a lecture of the chair.

The following information is valid for all outgoing students, regardless of which program you take and which country you have chosen. In advance, you have the possibility to inform yourself on the homepage of the Chair of Business Studies IX about the courses recognized in Bayreuth.

Please note that it can take up to four weeks to process your application and therefore you should submit your application early in advance.

Please check independently, on the basis of the course description in the module handbook, whether a crediting of your desired course at our chair is possible and likely.

The following criteria are decisive:

- A large overlap in content between the course attended abroad and the course at our chair for which recognition is desired. The descriptions of our courses on the different course pages allow you to check in advance to what extent the course you are planning to attend abroad overlaps with the corresponding course at our chair.

- The type of performance record. Ideally, this corresponds to the one at our chair. If a course in Bayreuth, for example, ends with an exam, it is not sufficient if the course abroad ends with a certificate of attendance.

- The scope of the course. Here you can orientate yourself on the semester hours per week and the workload. You can find this information in the module handbook for your degree program.

All further information can be found in the leaflet “Anerkennungsprozess von Auslandsleistungen im Fach Betriebswirtschaftslehre“. Students of other degree programs should also use the application forms on the website of the Business Administration study portal unless there are separate applications for the recognition of academic achievements abroad of your degree program.

You can find the form "Application for prior examination for the recognition of academic achievements abroad” (to be completed before the stay abroad) and the information sheet here.
